Five minute Friday wit Kate Motaung
The word is define

An unsure place
Of not seeing
Not believing
Not knowing

I used to think
What I can't see doesn't matter
What I don't believe carries no consequence
What I don't know holds no accountability
I was in that place
Called dark

In darkness I could manipulate
Let duplicity take over
Create my own reality

 But then light entered
First I was afraid
I was found out
But a strange comfort in the exposing
A rushing release of relief

So I let it spill
And darkness emptied
Ambiguity became clarity
Definition in the soul
Where my true self lives

Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jn 8:12

  1. hi mary. i'm your next door neighbor at FMF. i enjoyed your post. i also enjoyed your "about me." i can identify with your comment: "I have been a born-again Christian for 42 years, have been to Bible School and know less about God now than then." i can so identify with that feeling! i know less about almost everything than i did back then!:)

  2. Mary, this is SO GOOD.

    "Ambiguity became clarity." YES!

And, "What I don;t know holds no accountability." Eerie, haunting, and true.

By God, you have a way with words.

  3. This was simply beautiful, Mary. I love the line "a strange comfort in the exposing." I remember having felt that way as well. Very, very beautiful. So glad I found you on FMF!

  4. That was such an interesting poem, watching the progress from Dark to light. Well written. I like it. :)

  5. Very beautifully expressed, few words, much meaning.
